I Give In

Published by at 2:47 pm under Blog

Right, I’m giving up on the Bah Humbug. There’s no point – you can’t fight it. Last night, I arrived home and Lottie had the Christmas tree up. Now, I’m not a fan of the artificial tree. For me, one of the only good things about Christmas is the smell of the real tree. We’ve only ever had a fake tree, but this year, to make me happy and get me in the spirit, Lottie got a real tree.

Christmas Tree

It looks great, it smells great and it’s perfect for our apartment. Merry Christmas, movie house! Merry Christmas, Emporium! Merry Christmas, you wonderful old Building and Loan! Merry Christmas, Lottie, and thank you.

    You know the way I said that it looked a little spare and that I needed more decorations? Well turns out I left a big box of baubles in my mums house. I knew I wasn’t going mad.

    And you’re welcome!

    Merry Christmas one and all!!!!!!!!!!!

    Damn you Darren!
    You know Emma is going to read this and demand that we put up ours now? I’ve been attempting to tell her it’s still too early! She was determined to get it up by the first of December but I’ve kept her ……………. busy since then to keep her mind off it. There’s going to be no escaping it now.

    Unfortunately though, we’ve an artificial treet. When I baught it three or so years ago I just didn’t want the hastle of pine needles falling everywhere. I’ve enough to clean up with dog hair! I didn’t need that hastle as well! I agree though. There’s nothing that beats that smell.

    Happy Christmas.

    I’m in the middle of crap clearing to make way for a tree that I want to get on Sunday but won’t have time to, and will have to get Wedensday instead.

    @Jo That’s acceptable.

    @Maxi What? I vented and now I can embrace the yuletide cheer. Pass the sick bucket.

    @Niamh Can we include Finding Neverland as a Christmas movie? I was wondering about this yesterday.

    @Ciara And more…

    @Manuel Not the first time I’ve been told that.

    We had a real tree one year – and we haven’t had one since…

    It still had a few “authenic” bits that you’d rather not see, the smell was nice at first and then rapidly became rotten…

    And the worst part of all, it the huge mess it leaves on the floor from bringing it in, decorating it, undecorating, bringing out etc.
    It is a bitch to hoover up…

    I’ve been bah humbug for a long while…. Cancelling this Christmas has not gone well, I’ve been trying for 18 months, I’m thinking I need to fall in line with olympic cycles, cancelling four years ahead to see if I get anywhere?

    My humbugness (is that a word, it damned well should be!) comes from when I used to work in retail and Christmas started in August and finished in March. I’ve never really got out of the habit (even though I’ve worked in an office environment for the last 7 years!)
